Starter strips and, where appropriate, leak barrier help address vulnerable eaves and rakes.

Vulnerable areas
A self-adhering membrane may add protection at eaves, valleys, rakes, chimneys, and skylights where wind-driven rain can find a way in.
Ask us: “Where does my roof need extra water protection?”Shingles without the sales fog
Appearance, product-label features, installation, local availability, and warranty eligibility are separate decisions. This guide helps you ask about each one.
Real asphalt-shingle roof photography is shown for visual context. These are not exact GAF product or color samples; confirm your selection with an approved physical sample.

A GAF option to discuss
A laminated profile with LayerLock® Technology and a wider StrikeZone® nailing area. It is a practical starting point for comparing appearance, labeled features, system requirements, and local color availability.
What to verify for my proposal
Ask us“Which HDZ color and labeled features are available for my home?”Official GAF details
Product availability, colors, package labels, classifications, and warranty eligibility vary. This comparison does not mean Wolfy's Roofing offers every product shown. Your signed proposal must name the exact materials selected.

The whole-home view
Compare the shadow line, pattern, and scale from the street—not only a close-up swatch.
Look at a physical sample outdoors when possible. Morning, shade, wet weather, siding, masonry, and trees can all change how a color reads.
Impact and algae-resistance statements depend on the exact product and qualifying package label. Ask to see the documentation for the material proposed.
A shingle name alone does not establish system eligibility. Accessories, installation, property type, contractor qualifications for enhanced warranties, registration, and full terms may matter.

Follow the water
Starter strips and, where appropriate, leak barrier help address vulnerable eaves and rakes.
Water concentrates where roof planes and materials meet. The proposal should explain the detail.
Balanced intake and exhaust ventilation should be evaluated for the specific attic and applicable code.

My proposal decoder
A clear proposal turns a product conversation into a roof plan you can compare, question, and approve.
The manufacturer, product family, profile, and color should be written down—not reduced to a generic phrase such as “architectural shingles.”
Leak barrier locations, underlayment coverage, starter edges, ridge products, flashing work, ventilation changes, and excluded work should be clear.
The proposal should explain what is assumed about the roof deck and how additional work will be approved if hidden damage is uncovered.
Balanced intake and exhaust depend on the home. Ask how existing ventilation was evaluated and which products or calculations support the plan.
Ask for the exact warranty name, who provides it, which conditions apply, whether registration is required, and what workmanship or weather events are excluded.
Color and product availability can change. Any substitution should be discussed and documented before it goes on your home.
